Last week I gave my old sofa to charity. This weekend I will have all my old university garage sale and thrift store finds removed. I’m lightening up the emotional pull of all these old items. For some reason I’ve felt obliged to keep them, but that really means storing them in a dusty storage locker deep in the basement of my building. Those items I kept in my place have been walked around, tripped on, and dropped for far too long. I called home to see how my dad has been doing (a story for another day) and asked mom if I could get her shopping credit for her e-reader (she’s using it a lot these days). She said getting rid of all my old junk was enough for her. I laughed out loud. O.k. Mom.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I’d post a lovely picture of my newly empty space, but it’s still a work in progress. So instead a virtual bouquet for my mom and all the others out there.

Thanks – I’ve been hoping you would purge some of the old bargain items (stored and in places I had to walk around) for a long time – a best gift for me to have it done. We both will feel better when you rearrange things in a simpler order. Can’t wait to see it.
It’s going to be another day. I didn’t realize someone was moving in today & booked elevator. Now it’s tomorrow.
